CHRISTIANITY is simple. It is not religion, but a relationship. God, our Creator, desires to have a relationship with us, His creation. However, it is impossible for us, being sinners, to have a relationship with God because He is perfect.
God, knowing this, still desired to have a relationship with us so much that He came to Earth as Jesus Christ – fully God, yet fully man – and lived a perfect life without sin, and died for us. In doing so, Jesus being perfect, took the punishment of our sins upon Himself so that we would be free of the debt of our sin. But death could not hold Jesus, because He is God, and so by His power, He rose from the dead. By doing so, we know that He conquered sin and death for our sake, and opened the door to a relationship with Him.
God already paid for the punishment of all our sins. All we have to do is believe in our hearts that Jesus is God, and confess with our mouths that He rose from the dead, and we will be saved. If we do this, when we die, we will be in Heaven with God, and able to enjoy our relationship with Him forever. But God wants to be more than just our savior; He wants to be our God, our King, and our Love. God wants to have a REAL relationship with us, and through that, our lives will be forever changed!
A RELATIONSHIP requires communication from both individuals. By praying, we can talk to God about anything, and He will answer us through our prayers. And also, by reading the Bible, which is the Word of God, He will speak to us and teach us how to have a better life. This is CHRISTIANITY at its simplest.
If you would like to be a Christian, and have a relationship with the God who created you, all you have to do is pray and tell God that you believe that He came and died for you, and rose from the dead, and ask Him to be your Savior. From there, CHRISTIANITY is all about the relationship between you, and God our Savior. This is also the entire meaning of REAL life – to have a relationship with God.
In that sense, I am a Christian, and I write Christian songs to show God my love for Him. So I won't discuss, or argue, or debate with you about RELIGION. But if you'd like to talk about your RELATIONSHIP with God our Maker, and our Savior, I'm all for it.
